Bio
Adam Holland is a multi-media observationalist whose work attempts to highlight both the micro- and macro-intricacies of living systems. Careful research of place and material are integral to understanding what must be analyzed and communicated. This work manifests as either architectural construction, sculptural intervention, or some form of social practice. Over half a decade of experience as a mason in New England, and now New York, have been foundational in guiding the direction and sensibility of his work. An appreciation for stone has influenced a tendency towards ecology, which informs his current research on human kinship with white-tailed deer in North America. Adam received a BLA in Architectural Studies and Studio Art from UMass Lowell. He is currently enrolled in the MFA Program at SUNY New Paltz with a concentration in Sculpture. As a Teacher of Record, he teaches Introduction to Sculpture at SUNY New Paltz.
Adam has exhibited work at Unison Arts Center in New Paltz several times, and most recently at WAAM in Woodstock. He also continues to seek alternate spaces for sharing his work outside of contemporary art settings. His intentions after graduate school are to refine his hunting skills, keep working on his Volvo, and find a community where he can be both builder and friend.
